Computing

Computing at Inspire

At Inspire Academy we have created a bespoke scheme of work, following the NCCE Teach Computing scheme in the main, with some units created in-house to meet the needs of our children.

The Teach Computing Curriculum includes an innovative progression framework where content has been organised into interconnected networks, created by subject experts and using the latest pedagogical research.  Children are given opportunities to create their own content, using a variety of devices and software, develop their programming skills, using physical devices as well as programming online, and learn about Computing systems and how they work.  The units we have added focus on developing children’s basic ICT skills so they are proficient with a variety of software ready for their journey up to secondary school and beyond.

Computing is taught as a discrete subject but is also used as a means of supporting other areas of the curriculum. The children are encouraged to communicate ideas and information in a variety of forms, using a variety of devices and software to enhance their learning.
