This term we will be looking at Anglo-Saxon life in Britain and how they settled and survived in the south of England. We will look at how they have influenced us to this day and key events and people from around this time of history. Any extra research the children may want to do will really add to their knowledge.
After half term, our topic will change to Volcanoes and Earthquakes which will be Geography based. We will look at how they are formed and consider some of the scientific language associated with natural disasters.
In English and Writing, our class novel is Anglo-Saxon Boy and the children will be writing non-fiction texts, describing a scene and looking at poetry. They will be introduced to the trickier grammar techniques required in year 4, as they look at crafting good coherent narrative.
Maths continues to be Place Value, Rounding and Number with regular basic skills practice in our 3 minute maths and Monday quizzes.
Please continue to complete 15 minutes homework each night and mark it in the homework diaries. Little and often practice, especially for Timestables this year, will really pay off for the children.
PE and Swimming – PE is on Monday afternoon for both year 4 classes, whilst Swimming is Tuesday for 4B and Thursday for 4A.
We also have Cross Country on Friday afternoon where additional kit will be needed.
Many thanks for your continuing support.
